Announcing our New Executive Director!

Helen-Banner

We are excited to announce the appointment of Helen Mason as our permanent Executive Director, effective 1 October 2025.

Helen has served as Interim Executive Director since April 2025, providing inspiring and effective leadership during a pivotal period for the organization. Her appointment follows a unanimous decision by our Supervisory Board, after consultation with the CHI team and members of our global network.

Helen brings deep institutional knowledge and extensive leadership experience. She previously served as Co-Executive Director of Child Helpline International between 2015 and 2018, and as interim Executive Director she has brought renewed energy, clarity and continuity to the organization. Under Helen’s leadership, CHI has delivered key events – including the highly successful IC 2025 in Zambia earlier this year, which culminated in the announcement of our groundbreaking Livingstone Declaration – and strengthened its strategic positioning. Members of our global network have expressed strong support for her appointment, welcoming her collaborative approach and commitment to amplifying children and young people’s voices.

Helen’s appointment comes at a defining moment. The years ahead will see the implementation of our Multi-Annual Strategic Plan 2025–2030, designed to strengthen the role of child helplines in addressing the global challenges reflected in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Continuity of leadership is essential to delivering this vision.

Helen shared the following message upon her appointment:

I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me by the Supervisory Board, our members and our partners. Child helplines are a lifeline for children and young people around the world, building on those before me, I am committed to working together with our awesome team to ensure that no child’s voice goes unheard. As we look towards 2030, my focus will be on strengthening our global network, amplifying the rights of children everywhere, and supporting the essential services that make such a difference in their lives every day.

And my personal commitment is to continue the mission to start a child helpline in every country of the world by 2030.

Philip Jaffé, Chair of the Supervisory Board, commented:
“Helen has shown outstanding leadership and integrity during her time as Interim Executive Director. The Supervisory Board is confident that her vision, experience and dedication will guide Child Helpline International through the next vital phase of its journey.”

With Helen Mason as Executive Director, we look forward to continuing our mission with renewed strength: every child has a voice. No child will be left unheard!
