RESEARCH AND CHILD HELPLINE DATA
At Child Helpline International, we collect and analyze data from child helplines worldwide to elevate the voices and experiences of children and young people. This data does not simply communicate numbers and information, it tells stories, shapes policies, and saves lives.
ABOUT CHILD HELPLINE INTERNATIONAL DATA COLLECTION
Every year, millions of children and young people reach out to child helplines for help.
Through our members, we gather data on:
- The types of issues children are facing (e.g. violence, mental health, online safety)
- Who is contacting child helplines (age, gender, location)
- How they contact (phone, web chat, text, social media)
This collective data gives us a picture of what children need, emerging crisis, and where help is most urgent.
We use anonymized, aggregated data to:
- Identify national, regional and global data trends,
- Support research and advocacy,
- Inform policy at national and international levels,
- Help child helplines improve their services.
